Arc Length GCSE Maths
Arc length is the distance around part of a circle. It is usually found by calculating a fraction of the full circumference.
Method
Arc length = angle ÷ 360 × circumference. Always check whether the question gives radius or diameter before finding circumference.
Exam tip: Arc length is a length, so the units are cm, m, or another length unit, not square units.
Common mistake: Students sometimes use the area formula instead of the circumference formula for arc length.
