Term to Term Rule GCSE Maths

A term to term rule tells you how to get from one term in a sequence to the next term.

Example

For 9, 12, 15, 18, the term to term rule is “add 3”.

Exam tip: A term to term rule is useful for continuing a sequence, but it does not directly tell you the 100th term.
Common mistake: Students sometimes confuse term to term rules with nth term rules.
